Mediation center international NCI is an independent, nonprofit and non government organization with a focus for dispute resolution, conflict management, violence and intractable conflict, promoting awareness and providing services on mediation, negotiation and other alternative dispute resolution.
Our mission is:
1) To explore the theory, practice and understanding of mediation, negotiation and alternative dispute resolution-ADR procedures 2) To set up mediation centers in different communities. Community based conflict resolution is an attempt to return ownership of dispute to people, through an informal process. Basically community member will be encouraged to bring their disputes to their neighborhood based dispute resolution center. There, in an informal mediation setting, run by a hearing officer from that neighborhood, the parties focus on a resolution to their dispute. Rather than assess fault, the session focuses on how to live together in harmony in the future.
3) To increase public awareness in early warning and peacebuilding monitoring and encourage the wide spread use of prompt, effective and mean of dispute resolution both in public and business.
4) To undertake systematic and indepth analysis of issues of conflicts, conflict resolution and conflict management.
5) To provide a forum for discussion and exchange of ideas through training, seminars, workshops, conference and other seminar gathering of scholar, policy-makers and executors.
6) To fulfill this mission by providing information, contact and networking opportunities to conflict resolvers, mediators, early warning and peacebuilding monitors and the public at large.
7) To create equity and equality instead of being about position, blame action and reaction to the story that might be framed about issues, interests, options and solution. This can all be done by asking question.
AN IDEA THAT HA COME TO STAY
Mediation, alternative dispute resolutionĂ¢€“ADR, early warning and peacebuilding monitoring are ideas that have come to stay. As a new approach to dispute resolution and conflict management initiated in the United State sometimes in 1970s in response to the public out cry for faster, fairer and better access to justice. At that time, the terms were vague, unknown and critized as unknown despite the benefits associated with it compare to litigation in terms of cost-saving, speed, preservation of relationship and enhanced client satisfaction. Today either mediation or ADR is not only an approach to justice, whose time has come either is a universal phenomenon which has come to stay.
Alternate dispute resolution embraces all methods of resolving disputes between litigation and arbitration on one hand and straight forward to negotiation on the other hand.
Mediation, the most common form of alternative dispute resolution, involves the participation of a mediator to assist the parties in dispute to negotiate a settlement. It is a voluntary process that helps the parties to reach a binding agreement more effectively, than by direct negotiation or litigation with less costs, less time disruption and often with better result. Mediation cannot guarantee a settlement but it does substantially increase in the chances.
Mediation is powerful and flexible. It can be used where negotiation are deadlock. It can be used achieve consensus in partnership or disputes.
In any dispute, mediation result is achievable if all parties involved wish to settle their problems.
